*Note to/about breeders*

  While there is a lot of info out there about rats in general, breeders are still popping up with new genes and information. There are a few gray areas as well as some mysteries...I guess one can say that when your dealing with genetics there is no limit to what we can learn as new varieties, colors and markings are continually being produced. It is of course in the fancys best interest that breeders stick together and share their findings. However, Its truly sad to see more and more breeders cease communication only to start rumors or arguements with others in regards to who has better rats, who had what first or what others should or should not be breeding. People please see the bigger picture here! What we are trying to do is so much bigger than that. As breeders we have a responsibilty to not only the public but to the rats themselves to produce healthier, friendlier and longer lived babies than our previous generations of rats. We must also keep in mind that we are looking to improve their standards but that should not be our first concern. I hear about what goes on in other ratteries and while I may not approve, that is simply not my business, nor do I feel that I can push my morals, opinions, and beliefs on others no matter how strongly I feel about the subject. All I can do is handle my business with professionalism, honesty and respect, educate others to the best of my ability, share my knowledge and continue to expand what I already know.

We are a small rattery located in NYC that specializes in Manx (Tailless), Dwarf, Rex, and Velveteen varieties of rats in several different beautiful colors and markings. We do ocassionally have Hairless and Odd eye babies that may pop up as well as other varieties. Most of our rats are Dumbo eared and if not they are carriers of the dumbo gene. Even though a majority of our rats are adopted out as pets only we strive to produce show quality rats by selectively breeding rats that best represent show standards. Improving our lines with each litter and contributing our dedication to the fancy is something that we have a great passion for. We tend to focus on the more rare varieties because we feel they are the ones that truly require the most improvement. Health, temperament and longevity always come first of course but when considering to breed any rat, they must have several desired traits or qualities that we are looking to improve and produce. For example I wouldnt breed just for a certain color or just to correct a lines ear type.

We are proud to say that we have been owned by rats for over 13 years now! They are a big part of our loving family and are socialized with adults, children and dogs and often accompany us on outings and for rides in the car. Unlike most breeders, we are happy to share our living room and master bedroom with our rats and we wouldnt have it any other way! We think keeping a small rat pack is the key to happy, healthy and long lived babies as all of our ratties are able to receive the care and attention they deserve. We may not have what you are looking for right now however we can place you on our mailing list for our next litter. We also know several breeders in and out of the country and may be able to refer you to someone that can help you.

Our rats are available to be hired for magazines, TV and movies and have prior experience. We also enjoy offering presentations for schools, parties and other events. Please inquire for more information.
